The Application Engineer provides the SPIROL Sales Team with technical support to develop an unbiased technical solution which meets the customer's defined needs or when this is not possible, make value added recommendations as part of the customer's design and manufacturing teams. The focus is on bridging customer needs (specifications, cost, assembly, quality levels, etc.) with SPIROL's product vision and product capabilities to generate a win-win solution for both SPIROL and the customer. While the Application Engineer is mainly supporting the SPIROL Sales Team, he/she will participate in and/or initiate collaboration with the customer to enhance SPIROL's total value and provide additional training to SPIROL Sales Personnel.
After his/her primary responsibilities are achieved, the Application Engineer will complete other engineering projects as assigned. This may include Engineering Work Orders associated with product development and testing, development of technical white papers, training, technical seminars, etc.
Working as a consultant to internal (sales) and external (customer) participants, the Application Engineer will develop, document and effectively communicate technical solutions which support SPIROL's product vision / brand and offer value to the Customer. Chronological and comprehensive documentation of any recommendation, and any product development is an essential responsibility.
Influence SPIROL's manufacturing efficiencies and effectiveness by recommending products that complement our production, vision, and expertise rather than utilizing the total envelope of capabilities.
When developing a special item, the Applications Engineer owns and is responsible for successfully executing the product development process which incorporates the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) philosophy and engages all necessary cross-functional groups.
Continuously assess and review applications, and market trends looking for opportunities which could present product advancements (new product development) in a standardized approach.
If assigned to design and configure a solution involving insertion equipment, he/she may be responsible for developing cost estimates and/or proposals as necessary to support the sales process. This may include set-up and training in-person visits with the customers as part of the delivery of the solution.
May be responsible for completion of engineering project assignments (EWOs) associated with New Product / New Series Development.
Write technical application stories, technical white papers or technical seminars. Conduct technical seminars as necessary and appropriate.
Travel as necessary in support of new business opportunities and customer development.
