Main Mission of the Job / Key Expectations:
The NPI Sourcing Engineer leads sourcing activities throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. This includes early supplier involvement, coordinating RFQs, conducting cost analysis, and supporting cross-functional teams to bring new products to market efficiently. The role ensures timely supplier selection, technical alignment, and cost competitiveness. It serves as a key sourcing partner to Engineering, Project Management, and Quality during the industrialization of new optical and mechanical products.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead sourcing for components and materials in NPI projects
Manage RFQ/RFP processes aligned with engineering specifications
Evaluate supplier quotes, lead times, capabilities, and quality compliance
Participate in make-or-buy decisions and supplier selection
Support project milestones from prototype to serial production
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams
Monitor procurement readiness and mitigate supply risks
Assist in supplier qualification and onboarding with Supplier Quality
Maintain accurate sourcing documentation in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
Promote cost transparency, savings, and long-term sourcing strategies

Skills and Experience Required:
University degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing or procurement in manufacturing
Experience with NPI projects and technical product sourcing
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Knowledge of procurement processes including RFQs, supplier evaluation, and contracts
Familiarity with optical, mechanical, or precision manufacturing is a plus
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Fluent in English and Czech
