Medior Backend Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a seasoned backend engineer to join our Prague team and help scale a British fintech startup to a market-leading position. You'll work on a regulated financial platform where quality, security, and reliability are non-negotiable.

Our products serve the British market and must comply with strict financial regulations – we're looking for someone who sees that as a challenge, not a barrier.

What you will be doing

• Develop and maintain the backend of a fintech platform using PHP 8.4 + Symfony 7.4 and Node.js + TypeScript
• Design and implement REST APIs with a focus on security and scalability
• Database schema design and migration management (MySQL / MariaDB)
• Application monitoring and operations – Sentry, Docker, Linux server
• Contribute to the development of an AI agentic platform and smart solutions
• Code reviews and mentoring of junior team members

Who we are looking for

• Strong backend development experience – we care about solid fundamentals, not a specific framework
• Ability to design systems for a regulated environment (fintech experience is a plus)
• High standards for code quality, cybersecurity, and system stability
• Comfortable passing knowledge on to junior colleagues through code review
• Fluent in Czech and English – both technically and conversationally
